Is AI Smart for Your Therapy Practice? The ethics of Artificial Intelligence in therapy

$9.00

Curt Widhalm, LMFT and Katie Vernoy, LMFT | 1 CE hour | Podcourse

Technological advances in artificial intelligence have made publicly available tools alluring for therapists who may wish to speed up their work in completing documentation and creating content to advertise their practices. With the rapid advancements in this technology, the responsible use of the content created by these tools has little direct historical direction for mental health professionals to follow. This workshop describes the technology and how it can be responsibly used for clinicians, including the pitfalls and potential effects on existing and potential clients.

Learning objectives: Participants in this course will be able to:

  1. Two ways that therapists can harm clients when using artificial intelligence
  2. Appropriately apply authorship credit when artificial intelligence is being used
  3. Critique two deficits in the content that artificial intelligence chatbots create
